Doug Bender
Senior Pastor

Doug Bender (bottom left) joined the Cross Roads staff in October 2011. Doug has served as an Associate Pastor at the New Joy Brethren in Christ Church in Ephrata, PA and as a church planter for the denomination. He comes to Cross Roads with a zeal to see God's work done among us and in our community. Doug and Denise and their two girls are welcome additions to the Cross Roads family.


Carl Shank

Joining Cross Roads staff in September 2007, Carl’s (bottom right) duties include staff oversight and development, chairing church board and congregational meetings, strategic planning, leadership training, website development and assisting the senior pastor with preaching and teaching. Carl has come to the church with over 30 years of pastoral leadership expertise. He is also a church consultant with ChurchSmart Resources, Inc. out of the Chicago area using natural church development (NCD). Pastor Carl and his wife, Nancy, have three adult children and six grandchildren.


Jeff Rickabaugh
Director of Worship Ministries

Jeff (top left) has been doing youth ministry for over 12 years. In 2000 Jeff graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a Bachelor of Science in Bible as a youth ministry major. Since then he has served as full time staff at Cross Roads. Having worked with Youth Ministries for 9 years, Jeff has recently felt a call to Worship Ministries. We are thrilled to have his talents and gifts in the area of worship. Jeff and his wife Karen have two girls, Abigail and Lillian. Jeff enjoys playing sports, music, grilling, cheering for the Phillies, and spending time with his family.


Dwight Gehman
Director of Youth Ministries

Dwight (top right) has been working in the youth ministry field for the past 2 years. Dwight has a passion to see youth become sold out for God. He graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School in 2002 and attended Rosedale Bible College. He enjoys playing sports, playing the guitar, spending time with his family, going to the beach, and hanging out with the youth. Dwight and his wife, Allison, have been married since 2004, and have a daughter, Madelyn and a son, Connor.


Katie Stein

Director of Children's Ministries

Katie's (top left of center) life purpose is to minister to God's children through education, promoting passion for Kingdom impact. She went to Lancaster Bible College, graduating in 2007 with a B.S in Bible and Children & Family Ministry.  After that she attended Dallas Theological Seminary, where she earned a M.A. in Christian Education. She has loved working with children since she was 12 years old, and has a deep passion to see churches partnering with families to raise disciples of Christ. In her free time, you can find Katie reading in a coffee shop somewhere. Katie and her husband Nate have been married since fall of 2009, and are delighted to be in PA! She joined the Cross Roads staff in January 2011.


Miriam Sollenberger

Miriam (top right of center) has served the Cross Roads Church as secretary for twenty plus years. She enjoys walking in the outdoors. Her hobbies are plants, crafts, knitting and crocheting. She grew up in a Christian home and has attended church all her life. Besides her position in the church office, Miriam enjoys singing in the choir, teaching in the children’s elementary department, and helps with other volunteer opportunities. Miriam and her husband, Charles, have been married for 35 years, and are the parents of three children, and grandparents of two.


Gloria (Glo) Shirk

Glo (top center) has been working part-time in the Church Office since 2004. When she has free time, she enjoys baking, reading, playing table games, and making cards. You can usually find flavored coffee and chocolate somewhere in her daily routine. Right after graduation from Lancaster Mennonite High School, Glo worked as a dental assistant for nine years. She has been married to her husband John since 1988 and they have two teenage sons, Ryan and Austin. She cherishes time spent with family and friends.
